Get Your Home Seen!

Why your house number matters more than you think and how best to get your home seen!

One of the most frustrating things I see time and time again  whether I’m visiting a client’s home, popping out for a viewing, or even just driving around the island .. is how hard some houses are to find!

Numbers hidden behind overgrown shrubs, faded plaques that have seen better days, or houses that sit in total darkness once the sun goes down. It’s not just inconvenient …it can actually cause real problems.

First impressions start at the front door.

If someone can’t easily spot your home, it sets the tone before they’ve even stepped inside.
Whether it’s an estate agent trying to find your property for a viewing, a delivery driver circling the street, or guests visiting for the first time …your home visibility matters!

When you’re selling, you want to make everything about your home feel simple, welcoming, and stress-free …that includes being easy to find!

It’s not just about convenience. Think about the emergency services..if your house number can’t be seen clearly from the road, how can you expect them to find you quickly? At night, it’s even worse.

A clear, well-lit number could genuinely make a difference when every second counts. It doesn’t need to cost a fortune, you can even make one yourself but most importantly it need to be clear and visible.

Easy Fixes That Make a Big Difference

The good news is, this doesn’t need to be expensive or complicated.
Here are a few easy ways to make sure your house stands out for the right reasons:

Upgrade your house number or nameplate – Go for something bold and weather-resistant. Modern acrylic, slate, or metal signs can look smart and stylish.
Add lighting – A simple solar-powered light above or beside your number works wonders in darker months.
Trim back plants – Keep shrubs and climbers from hiding your number or front entrance.
Check visibility from the road – Step back (or even drive past) to see if your home is easy to spot.
Add kerb appeal – Clean your gate, repaint your front door, and tidy the pathway – a visible home looks cared-for and welcoming.

 Don’t Hide Away This Winter

As the nights draw in and the clocks go back, now’s the perfect time to make your home stand outliterally!
So, my top tip…get yourself seen! Don’t go through winter hidden in the dark.

A clear, visible, and well-presented front not only keeps you safe and makes life easier for visitors – it also gives a wonderful first impression to potential buyers and guests.

Because when it comes to selling your home, you don’t want people driving past because they couldn’t find you!
